Lovely spot in magical country
Hosts were lovely, accommodations were very comfortable and well appointed.
Thank you very much Miriam for taking time to write a review of your visit to Ross House. So pleased you enjoyed our apartment and its location. It is a particularly lovely part of the world - a perfect get away. We are so pleased when guests feel as happy as we who enjoy the privilege of living here
Warm, comfortable, spacious, excellent location, friendly hosts; return any day.
I knew this house from many years ago and the current owners have done a lovely job making it warm and welcoming for visitors. Convenient for Clifden, Kylemore, the Killary and Westport, all of which we visited.
Lovely, will return when and if we can . Just go!
Lovely house in beautiful area
We had a great stay at Ross House. Everything was perfect. Connemara is very beautiful and the house has a perfect location to explore the area. Marion is a lovely host. Highly recommend property.
Hi Magdalena ,
It was very nice to meet you, Robert Luna and Oliver. Thank you for being such excellent guests. As always I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. It is very gratifying when guests appreciate our home and its location. We feel privileged to live in such a place. As you pointed out although "off the beaten track" it's location gives easy access to travel north and south. I trust you enjoyed the remainder of your holiday.
With every good wish,
Lovely comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting
We had a very enjoyable stay in the cottage enjoying especially the view from the very comfortable chairs in our bedroom.
Beautiful and remote
Beautiful, unique location, though it might seem remote to some people. About a 20 minute drive from Clifden, which is a small, charming town with some lively pubs and restaurants. Very close to Connemara National Park and other sights, such as the Abbey and Ireland's only fjord. We did some lovely hikes and drives in the area.
The apartment is clean and has a well equipped kitchen and spacious bathroom. The bedrooms are large and both have nice views (especially the master bedroom). There is a sitting area with a television and a small dining table. Wifi is included and works best in the master (front) bedroom. The washer and dryer is downstairs and works fine, though we hung our clothes to dry near the radiators to save electricity costs.
The apartment was very cold when we first arrived and took a full night to warm up. It would have been nicer if the heat had been turned on well before our arrival to make the space more comfortable and to get rid of the musty smell (I think the place had been closed up for a while). Also, since it is quite cold in the area (even in June), warmer bed linens would have been appreciated, such as featherbeds or down duvets to make things cozier.
As stated on the website, guests are charged for heat and electricity. When we first arrived, we were shown how the heat was set to come on at certain times and we had to write down the meter reading. We stayed there for 3 days; our heating bill was 37 Euro. We used very little electricity (a few cents worth), so Marion didn't charge us, but having to track these things when we first arrived made us feel less comfortable and relaxed in the space. Since the heat is pre-programmed, it might be better to include the cost in the rental fee.
Marion was a friendly host who was easy to communicate with over email and in person. We appreciated her flexibility and hospitality.
Thank you very much for taking a considerable length of time to write such a detailed review. I am so pleased you agree that the location is very special. It saddens me to learn that you had a degree of dissatisfaction. I will certainly take on board your comment that heating might be included in the rental. Last year I did just that but discovered that I was quite out of pocket. Those who run a larger vacation business advise that one must charge separately for ancillary services. I shall certainly "think it out again". Your comment regarding mustiness is very baffling as I have never had such a remark before. All the more mystifying because the apartment has been occupied almost consistently since April last.
Thank you again for your comments. I shall certainly try to do better in the future.
Beautiful Galway location, well-equipped flat
Our family of 4 stayed here in August 2016 for 4 days. Marion was a great host and the property had everything we needed. Marion was extremely helpful and flexible (especially because our arrival was delayed). She also provided us with lots of suggestions of places to visit in the region. The location is superb...quiet, with beautiful views of the sea and surrounding mountains, (even when it was raining!). We'd stay here again in a heart-beat. Thanks for giving us such a great location for our first visit to Galway, Marion!
It is most gratifying when guests enjoy visiting the area in which we feel so privileged to live. There is so much to see and do. Regrettably we are unable to control the rainfall but those who live in hot sunny climates do enjoy the fresh unpolluted air. I am extremely grateful to all our guests who take time to write a refiew as it is a guidance to prospective guests.
