Juni -15. September vorhanden.
Our family of ten have just returned from Villa Sogara. Words cannot begin to express the marvelous week we spent there. The villa, filled with family treasures and history., has every modern convenience and has been beautifully and thoughtfully restored by its charming and generous owners.
While the hills and the vineyards enchant, Verona is a short distance away and good roads lead to Venice, Padua, lake Garda and Forte di Marmi .... a great location for exploring!
The property is well maintained, clean, delightful and whose hosts become friends.A swimming pool, an elevator, washing machine and dryer, internet access, and a microwave are some of the amenities.
We were sad to leave and hope to return!!!
WOW! We have travelled for 11 years to Italy and this was one of the best villas we have stayed at during this time. We had 6 adults & 6 children at Villa Sogara, and had the perfect amount of space for everyone to be comfortable. Tommaso & Ella were amazing to us. We arrived and received a wonderful tour & history of the property from Tommaso. We arranged for Ella to prepare a meal for us on our first night to celebrate a birthday and allow everyone to recover from their jet lag. This meal and whole experience was a highlight for all of us. They set up the loggia with candles, all dinnerware and served the meal in slow stages for us. Their hospitality made everyone feel so special. Our kids wanted to hang out with Tommaso and Ella as they just made a great impact on them. We give them a lot of credit preparing this amazing meal, with two young daughters. (Emelia being only three months old, and our kids wanted to play with Sofia every day).
The house... Pool is incredible and provided so much relief on the hot afternoons. Tommaso's restaurant suggestions... Listen to him! They were all fantastic and the Tosi bakery was our starting point 5/7 days.
One restaurant - we walked through a beautiful field & vineyard with gorgeous views of this landscape.
Travel to Verona was easy (except for some local construction)... Such a beautiful town. The train to Venice, easy and gives you a break from driving.
Sirmione on Lake Garda, only a 45 min drive and one of our favourite towns, perfect for dinner & to spend a few hours.
The rooms were air conditioned and really gave you your privacy. Great living room to find a break from the sun, the library became the card room every night, and the loggia was used for so many meals and after dinner drinks.
Tommaso, you are a wonderful host and made an impact on all of us for this week. It was a vacation that we had hoped to take as a group for years, and it finally happened. We could not imagine it happening in a better place.
I truly hope we can return again one day...I feel so strongly that people need to experience your home to appreciate all of the beauty that this area of Italy has to offer.
Many thanks,
Tania, Eric, Holly, David, Heidi, Gordon + 6 kids who think you are amazing!
Our large group of 12 had a wonderful few days in Villa Sogara and Tommaso was very helpful and friendly. The house is full of character and the location, tucked away among the grapevines, is tranquil and perfect for exploring the towns of the region.
Our group of 7 immensely enjoyed our recent stay at Villa Sogara. Everything about the villa and surrounding area was exactly as described. Tommaso was a great help answering our many questions before and after our arrival, and he and Ela were fantastic, caring hosts. For example, we spent one night of our week in the Dolomites, and I had failed to inform Tommaso and Ela of this beforehand. They were concerned about our well-being and made efforts to contact us to confirm all was well.
The villa has been lovingly restored and is in fantastic condition. It was immaculately clean upon arrival, and the daily cleaning and mid-week towel change was welcomed (a service often not offered in similar properties). The pool looked very inviting, but the weather had turned a bit cool and our daily agenda so full that we weren't able to make use of it. The kitchen was fully functional and well-stocked with dishware, cookware, etc. The bathrooms were modernized and quite roomy by European standards.
Tommaso and Ela suggested several restaurants and gelato shops nearby. Our favorite was Trattoria La Torre in Mezzane di Sotto. The nearby town of San Martino Buon Albergo is quite nice with a great bakery, pizza restaurant (Sapore), and gelato shop.
Tommaso arranged a visit to the nearby winery of San Cassiano. Tommaso himself conducted a most informative tour of the vineyards. The owner (Mirko) then joined us and generously allowed us to sample all the varieties of Valpolicella wine, as well as some outstanding olive oil (also produced on-site). It was a fantastic experience and quite inexpensive.
This area of the Veneto is well-located as a base for day trips. Cars are pretty much a necessity to fully experience this beautiful part of Italy. Of course, Verona is the nearest city of interest, but Padua and Venice are a short train ride (or drive) from Verona. Lake Garda (Sirmione, Bardolino, etc.) is also very close. As mentioned, we were also close enough to drive up to the Dolomites.
In summary, we highly recommend Villa Sogara for a larger group who wants a beautiful, quiet setting that offers all the amenities (including WiFi!) and is convenient for exploring all this region has to offer.

Villa Sogara is full of charm and character. You can immediately feel it was a happy, lived-in house belonging to a family who loved the villa and loved each other. You are in the country with interesting views over vineyards and hills. There is bird song, peace and quiet the whole time. One morning we could spot a pheasant in our garden. Wonderful! However, within a few minutes’ drive you can be in the city of Verona with all its cultural, sightseeing and shopping offerings. There is a large Shopping center halfway to Verona which is very convenient for last minute shopping, just a break or a stroll in the many shops. We found it very useful, both for shopping and as a landmark - impossible to get lost. There are many interesting, genuine and reasonably priced small restaurants and pizzerias around - the ones that ordinary tourists never know about - so, ask Tommaso and Ela for suggestions. Pizzeria Lui e Lei took our order by phone on the way home and all we had to do was collect the pizzas.
The Villa: You will find the best of ancient and most modern, from a charming, fantastic countryhouse kitchen, to a lift (which we only used twice, to get the luggage inside and outside. The stairs are so easy to climb), to internet access. The bathrooms are all well equipped and modern and the water is always hot when you need it. The furniture is lovely and unique and there is a good supply of high quality hangers (wood). The cleaning is efficient and nonintrusive.
We toured Verona, Vicenza, Lake Garda, Sirmione, Maranello (try the Ferrari test drive if you get a chance - thrilling!), Modena, Padova and Venice in the 8 days we stayed. We found the Villa ideally situated to do this – in the countryside but boasting fantastic road access to everywhere you want to go.
Our hosts – whom we did not know at all previously – welcomed us to their Villa as old friends would. This made all the difference – we felt that they would be there for us should anything happen or should we need help for whatever reason. Both Tommaso and Ela speak perfect English. We never felt intruded on our privacy. Bill the dog, was a great hit with the children. He lives by the main gate providing guarding services but kept away from the Villa and guests.
Our Party: 5 adults and 6 children aging between 2 and 11. We had a great time and strongly recommend this Villa to parties who desire to tour the wonderful cities around Verona coming back to wonderful accommodation.
