We had an amazing 12-day vacation here in Fitts Village. It was a perfect choice for our family of four: on the beach, excellent layout, plenty of outdoor space, and right on the bus route. We spent a lot of time in the water, swimming and snorkeling in front of the house. The only negative for us was that the house is located on a busy (and noisy) street, but we got used to it after a while. We had hoped to take long walks, but that proved a bit dangerous on the street, and you can go only so far on the beach because of the many coves. We ran the fan/air-con at night to cover the sound of the nighttime traffic. Also, there are only a few restaurants within walking distance, so we mostly cooked at home and took the bus into either Holetown or Bridgetown when we wanted to go out to eat. We love to cook as a family, so being across the street from Jordan's Market was a definite plus! We went diving with The Dive Shop Ltd. They offer free pick-up and drop-off, and were a true pleasure to dive with. The diving was superb, much better than we had anticipated. All in all, it was a lovely vacation!
The 60+ Club
Having saved up the pennies for a few years to celebrate my 60th birthday, I decided to take the family away for a good holiday, rather than spend it all on a night of boozing and dancing.
I had wanted to go to Barbados for some years and looked for a place that we could call our own. We selected Alverton Villas as we wanted somewhere close to the beach. Well, if you got any closer you would be on a boat! It is steps away from the sea and the beach is perfect. I cannot recommend this collection of villas highly enough to anyone looking for a perfect vacation getaway.
We rented all the villas for a month and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. They were all spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Elaine and Shirley looked after us so well they almost ended up with squatters. Shirley even cooked for us a few times while we were there, for a very reasonable agreed fee, to save us having to do it ourselves. Real Barbadian food!
We often went swimming with the turtles that tend to frequent the sea outside the villas and with the crystal clear waters it was a real experience.
We really did not want to leave and with any luck the wife and I will be going back next year.
Location, location, location.........the Villa is perfectly situated on a beautiful beach. Had a great holiday. Shirley and Elaine are really good at welcoming you to the villa and looking after you during your stay. would recommend this villa and give it 10 out of 10. hope to return soon. Gloria and Claire UK
My wife and I had two fantastic weeks at Alverton which is on the beach. The welcome we received from Elaine was just the perfect start to what was a perfect holiday. The manager/owner attended to all our needs and was a mine of useful information. The climate, the sunsets and the service were wonderful and we are currently planning our return. We highly reccomend Alverton as it exceeded our expectations which is rare in this day and age
The 2 bed villa is clean, airy and spacious, and exactly as described. The location is perfect for us - a supermarket close by for self-catering essentials; bus stops outside for access north and south - no need to hire a car; the beach and the Caribbean, enjoyed by visitors and locals alike, a few yards away; a beach-side garden to enjoy; a shaded wooden terrace the whole length of the villa; restaurants and bars within walking distance or a short bus ride away; friendly Shirley who cleans and is a mine of local information - what more could one ask? We have already planned a return visit.
We have stayed here twice in 6 months now as it was such a hit first time that even our 2 1/2 year old daughter wanted to come straight back.
The villa (2 bed) is really practical for a family with young kids. It has a good amount of space, is well laid out and comfortable and is cleaned daily. It is all on one level apart from a few steps up from the garden. Although the vlla is off the main road, it is not noisy and we all slept soundly for longer than we usually manage at home. Having the supermarket a couple of minutes away is immensely practical . The garden is regularly kept tidy and stepping out of the garden gate on to the beach could not be better. The beach outside Alverton is the Fitts Village public beach and, like the rest of the West Coast, is gorgeous. It has great swimming and snorkelling but is not busy and the regulars are really welcoming. The sunsets are fantastic.
Our other daughter (8 months on our last visit) was well catered for, with a cot, high chair and (when she got a bit hot) a fan. The bedrooms are aircon, but not the lounge, although we didn't feel the need ourselves. Shirley (the housekeeper) is happy to babysit, so we were able to get out to a few of the great restaurants nearby for dinner.
There is a bus stop each way pretty much outside so it's very easy to get anywhere. You don't need a car.
We will be back again...
