We expected the condo to be older, but it has not been kept up at all. There was a shower curtain rod that fell down continuously, closet doors that barely functioned, and dresser drawers that fell out each time they were opened. The sofas were so stained I honestly didn't want to sit on them. Will not be going back.
The location alone deserves the 3 Stars, ideally situated with tons of restaurants nearby and a lovely stretch of beach. The view is gorgeous, even though this unit is technically on the street side - love the layout of the building to maximize ocean views.
Now for the opportunities:
Both balcony doors are broken - one labeled do not use, the other off it's rollers with a broken handle - when we walked in it was sitting open because prior occupants couldn't close it. These are hurricane grade doors and heavy.
Kitchen is older w/original stove - we didn't feel comfortable using it. But fridge is nice - it was full of food when we arrived.
Improper cleaning - we think it was cleaned superficially, minor dusting and carpet vacuumed quickly. The dining area floor had crumbs and the kitchen counters had crumbs as well. The bathrooms had some hairs and a ring in the tub and everything looked like it was from the 80s.
We called owner about the balcony door, the food in the fridge, and the cleaning. By then we had re-vacuumed and thrown away the food - a shame but not to be trusted. She sent someone out the following day for the balcony door and when she called to tell us it was fixed, she also said she'd spoken to her cleaning people and they hadn't really cleaned it. She said she would send us $70 for this - and we did receive that check right after we returned home.
We thoroughly cleaned the place ourselves, even beyond the superficial cleaning we had done the day before. We took off months of deep ground scum and dried runnels of food from the walls and stains on the tile and grout.
The balcony door handle broke again within one day - remember it was off its rollers, which wasn't fixed, and you had to manage the weight to move it back and forth - we got the handle back on and used it a few times, but essentially stayed inside when we were in the place - which wasn't much.
The beds are new but cheap - you can feel the springs - but strangely not uncomfortable.
The building people are FANTASTIC! Friendly and cleaning constantly. Elevators are awesome, the pool a bit dirty, we didn't use, but the deck is massive and wonderful. Good security as well.
A little upkeep and a little money for some basic upgrades, and this unit could be a showpiece. And a new cleaner - that's a given.
The owner was very responsive and that is the other reason for the 3 stars.
Very nice condo . Would definitely stay here again
