From the moment I came through the door of this Casita, I felt at home. From the empanadas that Kris left on the kitchen table to greet me to all of the small thoughtful things that she included throughout the Casita, I had everything I needed. Kris dropped by a couple of times when I was outside and I really enjoyed my visits with her.
I was staying alone and felt very safe in the area. Truly this is a unique, special place. I will be coming back to Albuquerque and I will stay here again if it's available!
This place has it all. It is beautifully but comfortably appointed and architecturally interesting. The home was very spacious, and yet felt cozy all at the same time. Pride of ownership definitely shine through on this unique group of properties. We actually stayed in the larger Casita De Madre', we had the pleasure of speaking with the couple staying in Casa De Padre', they echoed our sentiments about their stay as well, saying they come to ABQ twice a year and will not stay anywhere else! I certainly understood why. The lovely park across the street was perfect for an early morning walk, and the property was so convenient to all of the shops and charm of Olde Town, we actually walked there twice. Kris, the owner, was easy to reach and very thoughtful, as proven by the delicious, homemade cherry empanadas that she left for us. I'd make a trip back just for those! If you ever have an opportunity to stay at one of these lovely casita's, I would highly encourage you to do so! I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next excursion to ABQ. As a matter of fact, like our travelling neighbors said, we probably won't stay anywhere BUT Casa De Madre' or Padre'!
We stayed for four days. Very convenient to our conference at Hotel Albuquerque. Lovely ambience and friendly host Kris. Would highly recommend
I stayed at the Casita de Padre five nights and enjoyed my stay from the second I walked in. I was greeted with a few personal notes from Kris and the smell of delicious home made fruit empanadas. The immediate feel as I walked through the casita was, "comfortable, warm, and cozy". They have made amazing use of the space and filled it with just the right amount of charming furniture, a fantastic collection of New Mexico decor, and everything you need for a great stay, including a bunch of items waiting in the fridge when you arrive. I so appreciated many of the conveniences the casita offers: the ability to park inside the beautiful casita grounds, to walk to Old Town and many of the nearby museums, to do laundry right on the grounds, and to just plop on the couch and eat a yummy pizza from Old Town Pizza Parlor or delicious huevos rancheros from Cocina Azul. The owners also supply everything you would want during your stay - from a blender in the kitchen and toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion) and a blow dryer in the bathroom to a DVD player, a great working desk, and plenty of high quality towels and even a nice bathrobe. You will love this cozy little place - I know I will be back!
What a delightful place to stay! Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and with everything we could possibly need right at hand. The location, Old Town, can't be beat. The property is across a quiet street from a park, and a block from the Plaza. The resortation of the casita is just perfect - it has all of the modern conveniences while keeping the charm of old Albuquerque. Kris could not be a better hostess. Check-in was a breeze, and she left empanadas for our breakfast the next morning (and a treat for our little service dog!). The beautifully equipped kitchen even had a blender. The sleeper sofa has a very high quality mattress, as does the bed in the bedroom. We all slept great! Our little service dog loved running out the back door into the private, enclosed courtyard. The only negative was having to leave! I can't wait until we can return for another stay.
This place was amazing! We booked because it was in a great location for walking in to Old Town and had a cute look, with a neat back story, but the pictures don't even do it justice! It is decorated with knick knacks and accessories that create an at home feeling, and while it has preserved it historic look on the outside, the inside has all the modern amenities. The three rooms (living, kitchen, bedroom) are spacious enough that you don't get the feeling that the place is as small as it looks on the outside. The bed was comfy and it was very quiet the nights we stayed. It is advertised as sleeping 4, but one of the beds is a sofa sleeper. We had a third but he stayed with family so I cannot speak as to the comfort of the couch. Sharing the small bathroom between more than a couple might be awkward as it is in the bedroom and very small. but maybe a family with small children would find it sufficient. The wifi worked well and there were CDs/DVDs/games provided, although we were too busy to partake. We met the owner briefly when we arrived and she was very nice. While we did not see her again, I feel certain she would have responded promptly to any issues or requests; I believe she lives quite close. The owners stocked the fridge with a few cokes and juices and had fresh pastries laid out for our arrival. I would highly recommend this place to any couple looking for a cozy, romantic getaway in Albuquerque, or as an alternative to any hotel room for anyone visiting Duke City!
