Great location on Ile D'Orleans: right on the St Lawrence, easy access to Old Quebec City to see the UNESCO world heritage treasures, easy access to Quebec's parks, yet a private and quiet retreat at the end of the day on an island filled with fresh strawberries, raspberries, chocolates and breads. Home was beautiful, had everything our family with two young adult children could want, outdoor fire pit for evenings outside by the river. Highly recommended and will be back if we visit Quebec again.
I've never bothered to write a review for any of the HomeAway stays we've been to around the world; until now. This home and location are AMAZING. It was my 60th Birthday and we wanted to go somewhere relaxing and see the fall colors. I debated whether to stay in the city of Quebec, but decided to try being out on the island. The pictures of the house are exactly what you get and more. There is no way to capture the peace, tranquility, charm, comfort and ambiance in a photo. Between the warm fires in the evening, the hot tub and watching the freighters silently glide through the living room window, it was heaven. Though we did go into Quebec a few times to sight see and have dinner, we could have happily stayed on the island the entire 11 days. There are many wonderful restaurants to have lunch or dinner, vineyards to taste wine, apple orchards to pick apples and drink cider, a wonderful chocolate shop on the south side of the island and many road stands to buy fresh strawberries and vegetables if you want to cook dinner in Caroline's well appointed kitchen. There are plenty of country roads for taking long walks, and be sure to visit the beautiful waterfall just over the bridge. None of us wanted to leave yesterday!
Stayed at this lovely house, It was absolutely fantastic. It was extremely cozy and beautifully decorated. It was extremely luxurious. It has a very cozy living room setup and a warm fireplace which is key in the winter, a GORGEOUS kitchen with beautiful stainless steel counter top, It also has a comfy area with a large flat screen for watching movies, or tv. The windows are tall and the view is absolutely fantastic! Also in a extremely convenient area that is very close to Quebec city, Beautiful area and beautiful place!
We had an excellent time on ÎIe d’Orléans and during our week in Québec. Opening our eyes in the morning and seeing the beautiful fleuve Saint-Laurent will be unforgettable. The house, the property, and the location are beautiful. The house was very comfortable and spacious for a family of five, and was very nicely furnished. There is a large yard where you can play catch, run around, have a campfire. It was really nice to explore down by the river and watch the ships. Caroline, the owner, was very nice and responsive and easy to work with. ÎIe d’Orléans has the best strawberries on the planet. There are a lot of things to see, do, and eat on the island, including Le Moulin de Saint-Laurent (restaurant) , La Boulange (bakery), Chocolaterie de l'Ile d'Orléans (ice cream), Confituerie Tigidou (jam factory) . You can also get groceries at a market about a three minute walk, and really good meat at Boucherie Jos Rousseau. The house has a really nice gas grill. It is also easy to get into Quebec City. Everyone was so friendly and it was fun to communicate in French. We also took day trips into the Jacques Cartier National Park, for whitewater rafting, and a really fun zip line and ropes course at Abraska Duchesnay. We have done many summer vacations on Cape Cod and in Maine, and it was time for something new. This will be a very memorable trip for our family.
Unreal home and view. Only 15 minutes into Quebec City. 6 of us enjoyed the fireplace and well stocked kitchen. Beds were comfortable as well. Caroline is trustworthy and made me feel comfortable. Definitely would go back. If you need anything answered she can give you my phone number. I love Quebec and the home.
