I am the owner of the unit you had rented. I am so sorry that happened to you. We depend on the real estate companies in our absence. The Dunes of Seagrove project was suppose to be completed in January. The homeowners are at a loss here as we have no control. I'm not sure why the tv and lights were on. We haven't had renters in sometime in our unit. I can't imagine planning a family vacation only to find out you are without a place to stay. I will inquire why you were not given notice sooner and why a company of that size couldn't find another location. Your feedback is important even when it is not favorable
I booked this condo on Feb 21, 2019, through a local Realty company. This was our annual spring break trip for my family and I. We have been coming down here for over 8 years. I was notified March 30th that my trip from 4/2 to 4/9 was cancelled. The Realty company called me & e-mailed me saying the unit was going to be uninhabitable due to construction. My friend that rented unit 205 C during the same exact time frame was told they could still rent but the balcony was simply being painted and since they couldn't use the balcony, offered them a 20% discount & came to get the balcony furniture to store it out of the way for them. I was told by Realty company "sorry about your cancelation and we have no place to move you.". Thankfully we found a house .50 mile away, two days before - after 20 inquiries and 5 hours on the computer I was able to salvage our family vacation. Then, we had dinner at our friends condo (one floor below the unit we were booked to stay in), at the same condo complex only to see lights on & a tv on in the unit as we walked up from the beach to go to our friends place for dinner. I was so upset that someone would be so unprofessional and rude and hope someday their vacation gets cancelled on them two days before with very little chance to find another booking. I will never rent this unit ever again and if you do - be careful because they may just call you two days before and say sorry, we are cancelling your reservation and we have no place to move you. If you don't believe me, I have the proof of the booking from 2-21-16 and the date I received the cancellation and I am happy to share it as I hope this doesn't ever happen again to anyone. The best is when local Realty company says the unit is blocked off with caution tape and I was literally there last night and saw it with my own eyes - there was not any caution tape at all. Bottom line it was very shady business practice and I am disgusted by the owner and the realty company. It's the biggest realty company in Seaside/Seagrove area but if I mention the name in this review - they won't post it.
Dunes of Seagrove is conviently located east of Seaside and near Deer Lake state park which provides a tranquil setting with easy access to many amenities. Condo 302C was very clean, roomy and provided good views from a spacious balcony. After spending a day on the beach, jumping in one of the two pools or hot tub was very refreshing. The rental comes with one complementary beach umbrella and two chairs which is a $20/day value. A short walk east is Deer Lake state park where we saw stingrays and various fish in shallow waters. Within a short bike ride are excellent eateries including Cowgirls (breakfast and lunch), Whiskey Bravo (shrimp/grits and grouper entrees are recommended) and Fish House (live music most nights). Bikes can be rented at numerous places nearby and the daily or weekly rates are very affordable ($45/week or $15/day). Most bike rental companies will provide free pickup service at your residence. All-in-all, we enjoyed our stay and would visit again. Special thanks to the owners for donating their condo for auction to support a charitable cause.
