I hesitate to write a review for this gem of an apartment, because if I do, others will snap it up and it will never be available to me when I need it! This lovely apartment boasts fine art, the most gracious host, everything you need, and a beautiful view of the Empire State building from the master bedroom.
Upon arrival I was greeted by John who took the time to show me everything, give me suggestions about local businesses and offer us a bottle of wine. His cabinets were stocked with teas and coffees and anything you need for a short stay.
The apartment is located a block away from the Highline, near a multitude of wonderful restaurants and and is close many of the major New York attractions. Staying in the apartment makes you feel like a New Yorker who is fortunate enough to live in a very charming neighborhood. The apartment is a walk up, which is typical of most New York apartments, but once you are "home" it is quiet, comfortable and a wonderful place to stay. I will be back many times.
I stayed here with two girlfriends and we could not have been happier! John is an amazing host, he was very communicative before we arrived and had cupcakes from a local bakery and complimentary wine & beer awaiting us at the apartment. He had printed up a list of anything we would need to know about the apartment and walked us through, giving us a brief tour and showed us where everything was. He is extremely thoughtful, accommodating and generous. He kept in touch with us throughout our stay and assured us that he would be there in an instant should we have any issues (which we didn’t!). He was also flexible when we needed a later checkout.
The apartment itself was clean, cozy, filled with beautiful art and was very spacious for the three of us. We had everything we needed - kitchen supplies, extra toilet paper, blankets & towels, a blowdryer, hangers, television with Netflix, and more. In the bedroom there is a beautiful view of the Empire State Building.
The location was perfect, right in the heart of Chelsea as described. A great neighbourhood, really makes you feel like a local rather than a tourist. Super close to the Chelsea Market, tons of great restaurants, bars and cafes that we went to (Bodega Negra, the Standard, Blue Bottle Coffee), the High Line, the Whitney, and right near West Village where we spent a lot of our time. Also a short walking distance to the subway - only three short blocks to 14th Street Station.
Thank you so much, John, for the amazing stay. We would definitely choose to stay here again for upcoming trips to NYC!
The Apartment has a great decor and was very comfortable. The location is excellent and close to the Chelsea market and Subway. The host was excellent and very welcoming. The wifi could be a little faster but that did not take away from a great experience.
We really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect away from the crowded touristy places but only a 5-10 min subway ride away. Great restaurants and places like Chelsea market a 5 minute walk away. Very clean apartment with everything we needed. A wonderful view specially at night. The 4 flight of stairs was not a problem at all for us but something to think about. I would definitely stay here again.
The apartment is filled is wonderful music, books and art. It was incredibly clean and cozy. There is a clear view of the Empire State Building from the bedroom . It is a short walk to the Village, to the High Line , to Chelsea Market and so many other great places. John, the owner, is gracious and accommodating. I would highly recommend this apartment
John's apartment is exactly as described by other reviewers : very clean, well appointed and secure, with lovely art works and bedroom view of the Empire State Building a bonus.
John has thought of everything - the kitchen has everything you could possibly need in terms of equipment (and quality at that), including basic cooking ingredients and a generous selection of complimentary drinks; also plenty of paper supplies, spare towels, linen and bathroom / first aid supplies.
The location is perfect - close to the Highline, Chelsea Markets and the Meatpacking District, the Whitney Museum, easy walking distance from the West Village, Greenwich Village, Hudson River Park and much more. The subway (14th St A C E) is just around the corner. I stayed on my own and felt very safe in the neighbourhood.
Best of all, John is a very generous, responsive and accommodating host - he kept in touch with me throughout, met me at the apartment when I arrived, checked in with me during my stay to make sure I wasn't in need of anything, and was very flexible in terms of my checkout and a last minute change of travel plans. It was a pleasure to stay here, I hope to return soon and would definitely recommend.
