This property is fantastic! Walking distance to the beach, very spacious, and a great indoor pool & hot tub! Building was reasonably clean and quiet during our stay. We would definitely stay here again.
Two of us stayed in this unit. Yes, it was clean. However, there is an overwhelming smell of must and mold. It appears on the surface, they have done everything they could. I wonder if the unit was filled with water after the hurricane? The odor is in the walls? Floors? The washer and dryer did not work. The only advice was that he could give us an address of a decent laundromat. Yuck!!!!
Dec. 8, 2019...After returning to and living in the unit, the smell is 100% old smoke in the games room and not must or mold. A past guest has been smoking . I have isolated the games room from the rest of the unit and the air there is ok. I have installed a $600 Rabbit Air Electronic Air Cleaner. I will clean the air ducts, wash the walls and solve this odor problem. This is my winter home. Guessing that hurricane ground water hit the unit is irresponsible. Never happened. The previous week’s renters did not report any problem with the recently purchased washer/dryer units so I had no idea there was a problem. These folks were the first to report it. Sears warranty service would not respond quickly. Beyond my control.
We are presently deep cleaning the unit which has never been a problem. Previously I wrote the humidity problem may be from the humid season just being over, the indoor pool down the hallway or renters leaving doors open for weeks on end in humid conditions or all the rain from a near Oct hurricane miss. Maybe all of it but it looks like leaving patio doors open to high outside humidity is the probable cause. I have had a first class dehumidifier constantly working for 7 weeks and humidity now reads 37% which is bone dry. Future renters need not fear odor. This is my winter home. I will return it to normal.
Very nice with plenty of room. Full kitchen, bikes, beach chairs, grill and outside porch.
Very clean, quite location but close the beach and restaurants. Highly recommended this unit.
Perfect family get away
Everything was as described. Very clean with lots of space. No humidity in the unit. Kitchen was well equipped.
Great value on Hilton Head Island
The property was in excellent condition and very comfortable. The floor plan was larger than expected, and a perfect fit for our needs. Wray is an outstanding host. Communications were very clear and thorough throughout the entire process from booking to checkout.
Not Great, Unfortunately
I booked this room based on all the 5 star reviews, so I’m really hoping my experience was a rarity, but I felt the need to share regardless. The location and layout of this property are awesome, but unfortunately we could not fully enjoy our stay. Even with the AC set to 69, the room was EXTREMELY humid, as if the AC unit wasn’t pulling moisture out of the air at all. We were willing to look past this since it was humid outside and we tried to be understanding, but then we discovered mold on the kitchen chairs, table centerpiece, and living room chairs. I have pictures but unfortunately there isn’t a place for me to upload here. Being that my boyfriend is allergic to mold, I messaged Wray to make him aware of the problem. His solution was to have the cleaning service check it out and maintenance to bring a dehumidifier.... that would have been great except Wray said he doubted maintenance would get there before we leave. And of course they didn’t. So for 4 days we dealt with a humid and musty room with moldy chairs. Not really sure how the cleaning service missed it when they were preparing for our stay... but I’m disappointed that resolving our issue didn’t feel like a priority.
Again I’m hoping this is a rare occasion because the room is nice otherwise.
Ten years and over 400 short term rentals and this has never happened. Relative to our normal reviews, this is a one off. The unit was humid and we are doing everything possible to resolve the issue. The present guests, 9 days after the difficult week, report “It's very comfortable inside right now.” They were thrilled with the villa at the end of their visit and said they will write a 5 star review. They did.

The original e mail report from this guest concerning the humidity and mold did not mention an on going health and safety concern and my recollection of my subsequent telephone call did not include a medical issue. Nevertheless, in lieu of their disappointing vacation, I offered them “a full, free week before the snowbirds arrive in mid December or a credit for the full five days for next September? I cannot give them an equal, day for day credit in prime time but would be willing to consider any suggestions”. I suggested in conversation with the VRBO / Homeaway advisor that I was willing to give them a 100% refund but they strongly advised against that option since the vacationers stayed for the full rental period.
