The Chamberlain cabin in Lydia’s Canyon
Some substandard factors affected our experience. Dead insects in the sconces , mouse turds in the cupboards, on the countertops ( bathroom and kitchen) and in the bathtub . We saw mice running across the floor in the living room, down the outside of the stove chimney, and along the upstairs railing. We put out rodent bait that was in the cupboard. There were some sort of nuts in the bed upstairs and later found in our suitcases. I have pictures of all of this. Let me say that we are both biologists and have a pretty high tolerance for wildlife and understand the trials of a cabin in the woods. The ceiling fan doesn’t work. The final straw was rodents tuning on me in bed. We left early
Loved this cabin in the woods! Great location & we loved seeing the horses each morning. Simple & relaxing.
Convenient but needs updating
We loved our visit here in Glendale. It was a perfect distance for exploring both Zion and Bryce. The cabin itself is lovely and cozy. However, it does need some maintenance and updates. There was quite a bit of “junk” and personal items around—old plastic chairs on the porch, someone’s shirt and tie in a closet, items stuck under the bed. Also, some of the towels were torn, mismatched and stained and kitchen utensils need updating (rusty can opener, scratched Teflon pans), tattered laundry hamper in bathroom, old pillows that need to be replaced and old food (expiration dates of 2015) that need to be thrown out. There were also broken electrical plates around plugins and other similar maintenance items that need to that need to be fixed, disposed of and would make this cabin much more comfortable. As I said, we really enjoyed the convenience of the location and the cabin itself, but for future renters, it needs a good spring cleaning and update.
Beautiful Cabin in gorgeous location!
Really enjoyed my stay at this beautiful little cabin in the trees! I was by myself, but this property would be great size for a couple, or a family with 2 children. Cabin was well appointed with comfortable beds and furniture, TV, internet, and good size kitchen - washer and dryer were bonus that was much appreciated. Kitchen was well equipped with utensils, appliances and basics - which is good, because there are not a lot of close options for eating out. I was initially wondering about noise from traffic - cabin is not too far off highway - but I rarely heard anything other than the occasional semi passing by. I had some dreary weather during my stay - cold, rain, sleet, snow and wind - but felt totally cozy and comfy in the cabin.
A few notes: take it easy with the heat - it is a loft-style cabin with sleeping up, so if it’s warm downstairs, it’s probably too warm upstairs for comfortable sleeping.
- directions from owner are very good - read them, and don’t rely on Google Maps to take you to the front door - it will turn you down an adjacent side road instead.
- this cabin is just off the highway, but is not “in town” - and there are not a lot of amenities nearby, especially if you show late in the day, as I did. Plan ahead to bring groceries with you, instead of thinking you’ll pick them up later.
- this cabin was in an ideal location, from my perspective - reasonable driving distance to numerous national & state parks and monuments - but you will need to plan on driving to get where you want to go.
Overall, I loved my stay in Lydia’s Cabin - looking forward to coming back again in the future!
AMAZING IN EVERY WAY
Clean, well-stocked cabin in the perfect location for outdoor adventures
We had a wonderful time staying here!We loved it because it felt so remote, but was very accessible to Kanab, Zion, Bryce, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, and Staircase-Escalante. Our kids loved the bunk bed and the deck overlooking the pond. I was impressed with how well-stocked it was. We brought a lot of stuff that we didn't end up needing. VRBO or AirBnB's we've stayed in the past have been missing key items, like paper towels and dish soap, or have had expired basic food items like those free cracker packets you get from restaurants that are over 10 years old. Not this place! They had everything you could possibly need, and nothing was expired or questionable. There was frozen meat in the freezer with the date marked, bandaids and flushable wipes in the bathroom, plenty of extra towels and linens, washer and dryer with detergent and stain remover spray (which came in handy with our family), koolaid packets, basic food items, board games, bubbles for the kids. I could go on and on. The owners really thought of everything! It really made our family vacation memorable at an affordable price.
