Fantastic Place to Stay!
New to Boston and needed a temporary place to live. This was perfect! Great location, clean, quiet, comfortable. Paul was flexible and made it easy to pick up keys before check-in. Checking out was a breeze. You can’t beat the location - an easy walk to restaurants, stores and other points of interest in the city. I’ve already recommended this place to my friends and family.
Location, location, location.
Well, that was a fast 31 days. Ah, The Nest. We were always glad to get back to it after a long day of sightseeing. As you might gather from the above, we couldn't have asked for a more centrally located base for exploring Boston and its environs: a couple of blocks from Whole Foods, a CVS pharmacy and bank, less than that to a neighborhood restaurant (The Tip Tap Room) that became a favorite, and perhaps best of all, just three blocks from a Blue Line T station, which with a transfer or two, will get you almost anywhere you need to go, including the commuter trains (for trips to Concord and Salem), the harbor ferry (to the USS Constitution), Fenway Park, the aquarium and most museums. It's also maybe a five to ten minute scenic stroll to the Commons. We also found both taxis and Uber to be inexpensive. Beacon Hill itself is hard to describe without resorting to cliches. It's a small part of Boston but within its boundaries it's like being in another world with its brick sidewalks, fascinating stoops and doors and stairs, trees and vines, flower boxes and plantings. When you come to a major thoroughfare, its like popping out of a wormhole, as if you've traveled from one century into another. You will never tire of it. The Nest itself is interesting. It's small -- about the size of an efficiency apartment but we found -- and Paul may get a chuckle from this -- that it actually seemed bigger than we expected from the photos. I thought we'd be constantly elbowing ourselves, but it took on a certain incongruous spaciousness that can't be fully explained. Everything worked and -- do not discount the importance of this -- the mattress was perfect for us. I don't remember a bad night's sleep the entire time we were there. It's also amazingly quiet for an apartment building. The view? Eh, let's just say it's urban. And we could never seem to get the water in the kitchen sink hot enough so we boiled water when we did the dishes. If you're cooking, be sure to vent the kitchen with the little fan that's provided, because the smoke alarm seems to be extremely sensitive (we only set it off twice, ha). Being there in October, a transitional season to be sure, we never could figure out the rhyme or reason for when the heat came on and off (admittedly the outside temp was all over the place during our stay) but when it was on the apartment was nice and toasty. And I see I've run out of characters. In summation, it was everything we hoped it would be.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this detailed review. I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and did so many side trips in the greater Boston area. This reservation was booked a year in advance so I really wanted to make sure it was the best. Feedback noted, I'll check out the sink valve to see what's going on. Happy Travels! Paul
Cozy, comfy, and quiet
Stayed here for a business trip. Everything I could have ever wanted was either in the room, building, or walking distance. It was as close to perfect as I could have expected. Paul anticipated nearly everything...read the entire welcome packet with map, etc.! Very helpful! Not much of a view, but worth the extremely reasonable rate if you are planning to spend most of your time outside the room.
Very clean and organized - it was small and cozy
The Nest was a great little place to stay. The location was the best! We spent a week there and walked all over Boston every day. Paul was very nice to leave suggestions for restaurants and we tried many of them. We did not do any cooking but we did make coffee each morning. Whole Foods is a 5 minute walk and we bought coffee and some yogurt and fruit and had breakfast prior to leaving for the day. The bed was super comfortable and the linens were clean and white! Perhaps the only negative is the walk up the flights of stairs to the room. The first floor hallway is narrow and in quite a state of disrepair. All in all it was a great place to stay.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this detailed review. I'm very glad you had a chance to sample some of the fine restaurants in the area. The building entry hallway suffered water damage earlier in the year, but we've finally secured the insurance money to start the repairs and improvements very soon. Happy Travels!
Great location for this stylish cute apartment
If stairs are not an issue, you’ll enjoy this spot.
This place is absolutely the best! We could not have been happier! Great location!
My husband and I visited Boston for the first time. We booked Paul’s studio apartment located in Beacon Hill. It did not disappoint! It is the perfect size for 2 people. Everything was clean, super cozy, very comfortable and decorated in way that made it feel like home. After walking around all of Boston and seeing the location of the hotels, we both agreed that we would not have wanted to stay anywhere else. I highly recommend reading Paul’s personalized notes left for his guests, as it is full of helpful tips and suggestions.
There is nothing negative to say at all. We will be coming back to Boston in the future and this place will be our number one choice! Thank you, Paul!
