we spend 4 days there in the cottage, what a blast, It was very clean and had everything that was needed, close to a grocerie market. We would go back there on our next Irish Trip. I do believe we were there in 2012, can't remeber at this time.
We loved our week in this cosy cottage by Traharta beach. Had a very warm welcome by the caretaker, the property was very clean and well equipped. Great base for touring West Cork, those who like water sports, walking and enjoying the pubs and restaurants in Skibbereen. Fantatsic views to the beach and big skies, a little disappointing that the weather did not allow much use of the patio.
Wonderful location right next to beach - we swam and snorkelled in clear water every day. Comfortable cottage with all mod cons, also well stocked shops only a 15 minute car ride. Highlights of holiday - whale watching with Colin Barnes from Reen Pier (saw Minke and Fin whales) and Mizzen Head cliff views.
We are just back from our holiday in Traharta Cottage.
The cottage was just perfect and very well equipped for all our needs. The views over the Atlantic were magnificent. Both children and our dog had great freedom to roam the stoney beach, the sandy cove and the rocky cove and being able to see them kayaking and swimming in the bay from the cottage was breathtaking. They enjoyed the fishing and searching for crabs along the rocks and walking over to flee island when the tide was out. Looking out over the bay while having a barbecue and eating dinner was so relaxing in the evening with friends. It is so calm and peaceful, away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday. We will definately be returning again next year. Both children and I cannot think of a nicer place to have our holiday. It is a little bit of Heaven.
have just returned from the most wonderful holiday. We had gone with the intention of exploring the area but found that we couldn't pull ourselves away from the cottage and the little beach at Traharta, it was so perfect. With its beautiful views over the beach, the sea and the islands beyond it really is the most idyllic retreat. having breakfast with the door open onto the sea, swimming in the bay, discovering the deserted sandy beach around the headland will all be memories we will treasure. Definitely somewhere to go back to.
We had an absolutely fabulous time in this idyllic cottage. The kids could run about freely and we practically had the pebble beach all to ourselves. We went on lots of walks, the boys had a go at go-karting, and we went across to flee island at low tide. We had a lovely log fire in the evening, the kitchen is well equipped so eating in was easy. I have not seen a view like that, with literally no people houses around for a long time. We would have stayed longer but half term was only a week! We'll be back for sure.
