This was our 6th trip to St. John, and we hadn't been able to come for 6 years, so we were curious to see if we still enjoyed it as much. We did! Regarding Beija Flor, it was as fabulous as ever; however, we particularaly enjoyed the 2 iguanas who had set up shop in the bushes by the pool deck! They were fun to watch. The view from the villa and the "open air" nature of the floor plan was wonderful. One especially nice perk is the access to Ditliff point which is now gated. We did some of our best snorkeling in Rendezvous Bay.
St. John was relatively unchanged...a few new restaurants that had changed hands. There seemed to be a few more people on the beaches (still not very many), but we learned that a number of the people were on a Spring Break, so it may have just been the timing of our trip. We were a little disappointed that Honeymoon Bay beach is now a bit commercialized...next time we'll take the path to Solomon. All in all still a terrific place to get away, relax, snorkel and be outdoors. I'm hoping it won't be six years again before I come back:)
Lovely property and comfortable for eight people. The veranda was fabulous for outdoor dinners. Very quiet.
We are regular vacationers on STJ, but we usually go to Coral Bay for our stays. This year we decided to change it up a but and it was a GREAT IDEA and a GREAT SPOT. We were greeted by Mark and he was the best! The villa was perfect for us (a party of 4). We have friends that live and work in St. John and the villa was able to accommodate 11 people for a great dinner party. They were all so appreciative and the villa was perfect for it. We tried the private beach and were so excited to see a Spotted Ray breach! The location was perfect, close enough to Coral Bay and our favorite North Shore Beaches, yet far enough away for privacy. We are so happy we decided to book through Seaview Vaction Homes. Everything was perfect!!
Our stay at Beija Flor was perfect!
We were met by Mary, escorted to our rental cars and brought to the home where she provided an overview of the house and then a great "tour-guide" style briefing on the island, places to see, places to avoid and her favorite spots - all of which was greatly appreciated!
The house was great for our part of 8 (3 couples, 2 adult children) and exactly as depicted in the photos - the views are really that beautiful! The bedrooms and common areas were open and spacious with plenty of space to relax, cook and entertain.
Although driving around the island was 'challenging' the house was in a perfect spot - just far enough away from Cruz Bay to have some quiet but close enough to get to all the popular destinations.
The added bonus of access to the private Ditleff Point was great. The perfect private beach, snorkel and fishing experience.
Overall an amazing trip (in an amazing house) and we cannot wait to make our way back!
We had a glorious family vacation week on St. John, made all the better by our stay at Villa Beija Flor. The view was amazing! We ( 4 adult couples, one with a 3 year old) were very comfortable in our own rooms with private baths... ( a small folding cot was provided and perfect for the little one). We loved relaxing and having meals on the decks, (and being able to cook them ourselves when we wanted ) and being able to leave the doors open to the breezes. The décor is beautiful and has a definite "island" feel...but we did have to do some simple "childproofing" .....just moving valuable items out of reach of little fingers...and devising a "barrier" between the upper deck and the stairs to the lower deck/pool area...neither of which were real problems. The location was great....far enough away from the noise/commotion of downtown, but not so far away as to prevent us from exploring 6 beautiful beaches! (although driving up and down the hills...especially on the left side of the road took some getting used to). Definitely need your own vehicle to get around...we rented jeeps on St. Thomas and took the car barge with no problem. We had a wonderful time!!!
We stayed June 8-15, 2014 with a group of 5: a couple, a single dad, and his 18-yr and 15-yr old kids. The property manager did a great job, everything expected of him - no complaints there. The Villa itself is beautiful and for the most part, nicely equipped. Things we loved: Great location, only 5 minutes from a grocery store. The big bay doors and the deck on the upper floor, which let in the breezes. The view from the upper deck was awesome, a full view of Fish Bay. We saw sharks and sea turtles from the deck, as well as iguanas below and in the trees adjacent to the deck. The pool was a great place to float and cool off and have a rum drink - we used it a lot. The bedrooms well-cooled with the individual A/C units, were roomy and the bathrooms were beautiful and well-designed for vacation renters. The supplied beach towels, beach chairs, and coolers were completely adequate for our needs. The supplied washer and dryer worked great and were very handy for allowing us to bring minimal clothing and wash it multiple times while at the Villa. Things we didn't love so much: the entertainment setup in the living room needs a complete upgrade/overhaul. The TV is small and fuzzy, and does not connect to the audio system. The old amplifier, although quality for it's day, does not have a headphone jack input, so there was no way to attach a phone or MP3 player to it. The supplied iPod dock only accepts iPhone4 and older connections. The owner could spend about $2K and get that upgraded to a modern setup and vastly improve the experience. The beds in the lower floor need replacing. They are pushed-together twin beds and they are very poor. One of them slanted to one side. The headboards were not attached and would bang against the wall when you moved in the bed - we just moved them out of the way. The kitchen knives are mostly useless - dull and old. The freezer would not consistently/adequately freeze items. The oven cooked very slowly, and the burners on the top were so weak that we were unable to boil water for pasta. Owner could/should buy new appliances and a good knife set, and it would make the kitchen a lot better. The supplied binoculars were very nice, but small and of weak magnification - a bigger or second set would be helpful. The wi-fi was consistent but slow - maybe spending $100 on a modern router would help. As a summary, we enjoyed our week at Beija Flor, but without the suggested upgrades, we would choose another Villa on a return trip.
