We stayed here for 8 nights with my wife, 5yo daughter, 16 month old son and my mother. The location was perfect. Right in the centre of everything. All of Romes major attractions are within a ten minute walk. And the Pantheon is literally only a few steps away. This meant we could easily return during the day for our sons nap or to drop off shopping.
The apartment is very spacious, well appointed and clean. Travelling with 2 young children and my mother, having space was important. We ate a few nights at home and the full kitchen was great.
GianGiacomo was the perfect host. He was always available with advise and help with whatever we needed.
We definitely recommend this apartment for your stay in Rome.
The positives: The apartment is huge. Really huge. The location could not be better in terms of convenience - you are literally a twenty minute walk from practically every single thing you'll want to see in Rome. The apartment management was terrific to work with, and extremely responsive to any questions and issues that we had -- we were answered almost immediately, always pleasantly, and our problems were handily solved.
The negatives: While the location IS convenient, it's also smack in the middle of Tourist Central - so, loud (street noise does carry directly into the apartment, although the bedrooms were quiet enough), and if you want to get a decent meal nearby, you'll really have to do your homework ahead of time and reserve early. The air conditioning units are located only in the bedrooms, and are relatively feeble (cool enough in the rooms in question after they had been running all day, but useless for cooling the rest of the apartment), so you will almost certainly have the windows open despite the street noise. While the apartment was generally clean, their was a distinct odor in the kitchen (we had to keep the kitchen doors closed during the length of our stay) and the bathrooms need to be updated (as a previous poster stated, the shower rod falls repeatedly in one shower, which also contains a mildewy shower mat; the other shower is the size of a phone booth, and also doesn't have a place to put soap or shampoo, neither of which is provided by the owner). Also, as others have mentioned, there's no dryer - rendering the washing machine fairly useless in the summer humidity - and the wifi is spotty (seems fine if you're in the same room as the router, otherwise not great).
That being said - if you're spending a lot of time indoors in Rome, you're doing it wrong. And as a platform for getting out and exploring the city, this apartment is pretty great. Just go into it with slightly lowered expectations.
We stayed at Gian's apartment for a week in July. He is a gracious host and very easy to work with. He lives at the building with his family. Location is great. right near the Pantheon. We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment on the third floor.
Price and location were great, but there were other problems.
It is very noisy at all times on the street. The kitchen, living room, office, and third bedroom all face the street. In addition, there is no A/C in these rooms, except for the 3 bedrooms, so you need to leave the windows open.
Even with the A/C, we needed to have it running continuously just to keep it somewhat comfortable in the 3 bedrooms. The bathrooms had problems too. The main bathroom shower rod kept falling down. The second bathroom shower was very tiny and had no shelves to store soap or hang towels. The drain was clogged but Gian fixed it right away.
Several tiles were missing or loose in the bedrooms and one of the beds did not have any sheets. There were no fans in any rooms so the non A/C rooms were very hot. The kitchen had a washer but no dryer, so we could not really wash too many clothes.
Lastly, Gian was replacing the heating system, so the construction team was there every day from 8-4 and was very noisy. If you want a place near the pantheon for a short visit, it is good. otherwise, suggest elsewhere.
We selected this apartment for my wife and myself and two teenage girls. The location of the apartment was great. You are only a few dozen yards from the Pantheon and the plaza next to it. In the evening, everyone comes out and there is a truly festive atmosphere. The street that the apartment is on is fairly quiet, although you'll hear more noticeable conversations of people walking by. The size of the bedrooms are fine and so are the bathrooms. Although there is a washing machine, there is no dryer. There is a laundry line to hang clothes on, but we found they didn't dry as quickly as we hoped. We found a self-service laundromat a short walk away. One reason we rented an apartment was access to a kitchen but we found we didn't use it like we thought we would. There are some great restaurants nearby. My only complaint would be about the wifi. You almost have to be in the same room as the router to get a decent signal. We found that it was somewhat slow when we tried to use it. Other than that, it was a fantastic trip. Giacomo met us as we arrived and helped us to get settled in and answered any questions we may have had. If you need help arranging transportation or have questions about the area he is an extremely helpful host.
Sauber, geräumig und ideal gelegen.
