Property Manager lied to us about WiFi
My husband and I rented this apartment for the month of November. We had been in Paris when our house and cars burned down on October 9 in the California fires' We weren't able to find place to stay in CA, so we decided to stay in France. The listing for this apartment said that internet access was included. When we arrived and asked for the WiFi password, the property manager, Damien Vaysse , told us that WiFi was not available and that the listing indicated it was not. Since we did not have a connection, we could not check the listing and accepted that it was my mistake. He offered us a 4G data connection for an additional charge. That would have been inadequate for our needs. We needed to remain in contact with California.The first time I was able to get online and check, I saw that both in the text and with the WiFi symbol, the listing said that WiFi was available. Damien had lied to us. He then offered the use of a second apartment. We spend a few nights there and after a rainy day, the ceiling leaked over the bed wetting both the mattress and the clothes we had on the bed. The ceiling had been patched previously but was obviously an inadequate repair because the ceiling paint was peeling and falling on the bed. The mattress was stained, probably from past leaks. After two failures with this property manager, we rented another apartment from HomeAway on our own. We still want a refund for the 3 weeks we did not use either of Mr. Vaysse's apartments. When my husband talked to him on the phone, Mr. Vaysse, he put my husband on hold. When he got back on the phone, he reiterated that the listing did not say WiFi was available. I checked the listing and the WiFi symbol had been removed while my husband was on hold. Because Mr. Vaysse had lied to us twice, we were prepared for this and had taken a photo of the listing the day we arrived showing the symbol that WiFi was available. Mr. Vaysse refuses to return our payment for the three weeks and said we should have asked him for a third apartment. I have a severe hip injury that will require surgery in December so I could not continue moving from apartment to apartment. We used two of his apartments and he had failed us. We had given up on him. We still want him to return our payment for the three weeks we did not use his apartments. We had to rent a third apartment in order to have a comfortable place to stay. We have a lot of expenses due to the fire so paying for two apartments is a burden.
