As a motorcycle traveller I have rented quite a few holiday apartments. Let me tell you that this cute "La Casetta" is one of the best I've ever had. It's all the little details that make this house a perfect stay, where you can relax surrounded by historically old olive trees in the garden. You can see that the owners and their friends are spending a lot of work in the garden. It is very fine designed.
The little "Casetta" is very well equipped. You will miss absolutely nothing. Some kind of luxury is the washing machine (including detergent by the way) in the kitchen. The architecture of "Casetta" is like this: On the ground floor you will find the combined kitchen and living room. Via a circular stair you can go into the bedroom, where you find a comfortable bed for two and a second bed. We slept there very well, since all windows are equipped with mosquito nets. The bathroom is also upstairs.
The view to the old hill town Seggiano is beautiful. There, you'll find a good bar and restaurant in close proximity. Also a little supermarket is there.
The owners Peri and David supplied us with a lot of information in advance regarding where to eat ouside, and all the other things you need during your stay. There is also info material in the living room (hiking, curiosities, etc.).
Seggiano is famous about its fine olive oil and also Peri and David are selling their oil to all over the world. It's a gift for all of us, that they also share this beautiful place with us.
I can highly recommend to stay there, in cute "La Casetta" at the foot of the Monte Amiata!
La Casetta is such a lovely and peaceful place. The view is great and it it the perfect place to relax. So bad, that we stayed there for one week only...
It is has everything you need (looks like Peri and David checked what they want to have, when they rent a holiday accomondation and put everything in what they would need).
It is a little bit to drive to the attractions but that was no problem for us!
It's possilble to walk from the house into the "village" where you find good places to eat ( Osteria C'era una Volta was so good and and such a nice restaurant and they speak english! Pizza in Bar 60 is great, but you need an italian dictionary!).
David and Peri from La Casetta are very friendly and helpful if there is help needed.
We would go there again any time!
Fazit: Jederzeit wieder

What a fantastic place. We spent a week at the Casetta at the end of June in glorious 30plus degree sunshine. It’s just the right size for a comfortable stay for a couple or family with a small child. Not that you want to do too much of it on holiday but there’s all the ‘mod cons’ for cooking, washing etc. The Casetta is set in a beautiful, well maintained garden within the grove and the views are just as spectacular as the website photos look. Although there are other properties in the vicinity they’re far enough away and hidden by the groves that you have complete privacy.
The local supermarket and bakery should provide most if not all your basic needs for food etc. but we did enjoy popping over to Castel Del Piano to do shopping there too. Find the general store which sells white and red wine from the vat for 1 Euro 30 a litre! It’s got a really good deli counter too.
A straightforward 2 ½ hour drive from Pisa airport with no problem finding our way thanks to Peri’s directions. We also managed day trips taking in Sienna, the top of Monte Amiata, Montalcino, and San Gimignano during the week without feeling we were doing too much although some of the nearer hilltop villages are just as interesting & beautiful to see. If you intend to visit during the summer months make sure you get a car with air con. We found it a godsend. We also set off on our day trips fairly early so that we could still spend time relaxing in & around the Casetta watching the wildlife going about its business before going out in the evening.
The local restaurants as well as others in the nearby villages were all very good. We particularly enjoyed Sergio’s in Castel Del Piano. Of course, we barbequed as well!
Every night was finished off with a bottle of wine or two sitting outside the Casetta enjoying the peace and tranquillity gazing at night sky totally unpolluted by any street lighting etc. This is just a great place to relax. Our only regret now was booking for just one week. A return visit is a must!!
On a personal note, many thanks to Katja for making us feel so welcome and helping us with information and tips.
This area of Tuscany is well worth a visit - pretty villages, wonderful scenery, easy access to Siena (if you need a city fix) and all the charm and loveliness that you would expect from this part of Italy. The house is perfect - small but comfortable with a decent bed and a good shower - and if anything the pictures don't do justice to the garden area which is full of bees and birds (and lightening bugs at night) and of course the handsome olive trees. We had a great time visiting local villages including Seggiano of course (which has a great restaurant right at the top of the village between the two bell towers). Only downside was the noise from the neighbours dogs (much more intrusive than the 'normal' sounds one might expect from a rural location) which disturbed us for the first 3 of our 6 nights and which made for unease during the first half of our short holiday. Having selected this property primarily hoping for those peaceful early mornings and silent evenings one can find in rural Italy, this was a shame, and it feels right to highlight this for others. The owners are aware of it however and are in the process of trying to resolve this (although apparently it does not bother most guests). One other tip, if you are going to arrive later in the evening make sure you pick up basic provisions on route...there wont be a welcome pack (bread, cheese or even just some water as is typical with most holiday rentals) to get you through night one ...hardly a holiday wrecker but still good to know in advance. We would certainly recommend this part of Tuscany which provided a varied, interesting and on the whole relaxing week...although you would probably need more than one week to do it justice (there is some driving to do to reach places further afield).
This is the second time that we have stayed here.
The property is set in the most stunning position in the heart of Tuscany. The owners are charming and very helpful. The accommodation is immaculate. We couldn't ask for anything better. We will return.
