Property not as advertised
This property photographs very well but does not live up to it's description. It is a basement apartment and so could not be described as "bright" which would not have been a problem if there were sufficient lighting provided (no overhead lights in the living/dining room, 3 lamps provided, one of which did not work), we were 4 adults staying for 6 nights and were provided with 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels (sent email requesting towels, nothing came, had to buy a bathtowel), washing machine not working, glass door to bathroom broken, shower head hanging off wall, beds had extremely old mattresses which creaked and sagged, only 1 spare roll of toilet paper, no extra rubbish bags, the house "manual" consisted of three pieces of paper which only advised when the garbage was collected and the wifi password. Emailed complaints to owner who acknowledged after 2 days but did nothing to address issues. This property looks like it was refurbished then no further attention paid to possible guests.
The only thing it has in it's favour is it's proximity to Whyte Avenue.
We would not stay here again and would not recommend it.
Good location- but apartment had problems
This property was a bit of a disappointment for us. There was plenty that was good: it was spacious, the kitchen and bathroom were well equipped, and it was well located—on a pleasant, quiet street one block from a bustling avenue lined with boutique shops and restaurants.
The problem was the suite was dark. It’s a below-grade apartment. The bedroom windows looked out on the tires in the parking lot in back of the building and on the other side of the apartment the sliding glass door from the living-dining room looked out on the dug out patio in front and didn't let in a lot of light. Compounding the problem was the fact that the walls in the living room are all dark, the furniture is black or very dark brown and there are no ceiling light fixtures. Just two small lamps in the living room and a desk lamp in the dining area. Eating breakfast at the dining table on a sunny summer morning meant turning on the kitchen light and the desk lamp to try to throw enough light on the table to brighten up the meal. It didn’t work very well. To say “the suite is bright” in the second sentence of the description is unfortunate.
There were one or two other problems: the mattresses on both beds were super soft and offered poor body support and the one in the main bedroom creaked loudly every time anyone moved. The front door stuck and we had to slam it with great force to close it, which probably didn’t endear us to the neighbors.
Finally, communication with the owner was puzzling. She answered emails in good time, but she didn’t answer my questions or pay close attention to my emails. So on the day of our arrival she sent entrance instructions to the wrong phone in spite of the fact that I had sent her my new mobile number in two separate emails, asking her to respond that she understood the new number.
All this is not to say the apartment was terrible. It wasn’t. It’s just that we wouldn’t rent it again.
