Beautiful surroundings , beach house feel, beach a foot step away , definately for the physically feet and those who love to walk , simply perfect , couple with hot tub and pool what more could you ask for
Our only disappointment is we only stayed for one week instead of two. Great views particularly from master bedroom which is large with enormous very comfortable bed.
Great beach for bathing and surfing a short walk along river beach (outside Ferry House). Very impressed with the friendly RNLI Life Gaurds who operate a flag system and observe from waters edge.
House is very well equipped especialy the kitchen which could be a bit bigger but is fully functional. A tumble dryer would be a help as getting stuff dry in inclement weather is a bit of a problem.
Nice indoor pool and hot tub a great hit with the kids
Loads of games and entertainment available. Minor hiccups resolved promptly by Nicola (the manager/owner)
All 8 of us had a great time and will return
Four of us (adults)stayed at Ferry House with our labrador, Charlie. We parked at dynamite quay using the permit provided. We could see the car from the house which was comforting and had no problems whatsoever. The walk on the beach takes only a few minutes, you just need to be aware of the tide times and not mind walking over a few rocks and mostly sand and then cope with steps up to the house. We did not try the route over the golf course as parking was difficult and busy whilst we were there. The house is private and with lovely gardens. It has a quirky feel with cottage style features and window seats but also a beach feel with coordinating furniture and accessories. The house is spotlessly clean and has all mod cons. Everything has been considered in the kitchen. There was still an April Chill at night when we visited so we lit the woodburner every evening and we were lovely and warm watching the sun go down at the beach. Sand does get everywhere as it is a beach house right on the beach but is easily cleaned up off the slate/tiled floor. I especially loved the fresh clean white bedding and ample piles of towels for each bedroom. We also appreciated the lovely welcome pack. We spent four blissful days walking on the gorgeous white sandy beaches and swimming in our warm pool and hot tub till the late hours. Our dog Charlie absolutely loved it and it truly is doggy paradise as the beach is dog friendly all the time. To be honest we fell in love with Ferry House and would easily stay there forever! We should really keep this lovely place secret but its just too lovely not to share our memories. Did I mention how relaxing it was, you can stay all week and not speak to a soul if you so choose listening to the waves, or you can watch all the beach activity from your window like quad bikes, kite surfing, rowers, dog walkers, wildlife, or like us you can drop into St Ives just 3 miles down the road or Carbis Bay, do your shopping in close by M&S/Asda or do some sight seeing to the beautiful St Michaels Mount, or visit the Minack Theatre with spectacular views. The only thing I can honestly critique is we tried to use the sunbeds but they were a bit old and rusty and not built for the larger lady shall we say! Some may say that some of the downstairs furnishings were a bit retro but we loved this laid back beach style and the modern accessories have been matched beautifully. Upstairs is as good as any boutique hotel. Just gorgeous!
My partner and I stayed at this wonderful beach house with our dog. We were completely taken aback by the fabulous views and the peace and quiet! The bedroom is just marvellous. We spent mornings in bed with tea watching the tide go out and dogs running up and down the beach. We couldn't believe we could see the sea whilst sitting up in bed! The lounge area is just stunning, with panoramic views to the sea. We couldn't fault this place. It was secluded, quiet, peaceful, beautifully clean and tidy, the cupboards were stocked with everything we needed to cook with and eat off. There was even a lovely bottle of mulled wine and tea and jam left for us, along with a bottle of milk. The owner was so friendly and accommodating, allowing us to arrive earlier and leave later on our day of departure. The garden was beautifully looked after. Perfect for our dog to run around in without the worry of him escaping. And to top it all off,the hot tub was absolutely perfect. Such a wonderful way to wind down in the evening. It was so clean and such a lovely touch!
We can't thank you enough for allowing us to stay and have such s wonderfully relaxing holiday. I have already recommended you, and may be coming back again next year!
Thank you thank you thank you!!
The location of the Ferry House is nothing short of stunning! The sea comes up to garden wall at high tide and at low tide there is a vast expanse of beautiful white sand beach. From the Living Room we saw seals, cormorants, King Fisher, Falcons and much more. It is a short walk to the house but we parked on Dynamite Quay (arranged by the excellent owner, Nicola) and it added an extra element to the holiday...first time we've walked along a beach to get to a house!
The house itself is tucked away with a private, large enough garden that would be the perfect place to sit and watch people/wildlife/sunsets/sunrises/views/big sky's, etc. and enjoy a drink in Summer, though we did that over a balmy (17c) Christmas! We are a family group of 4 and the house was an ideal size for us, I would imagine that in the summer with the patio doors pulled back that allow direct access from the Lounge to the front garden, there would be plenty of space for a large group. The upstairs is perfect, looks like it's fairly newly refurbed, with really comfortable beds (the main bedroom has the biggest bed i've ever seen!), huge amount of space and glorious views. The downstairs is practical and a little more 'lived in' but is clean and well provisioned. One reviewer mentioned this and all I can say is that this is a Beach House, it's by the beach so you will get sand on the slate floor and it must be difficult to maintain, but the Cleaners and Owners do a superb job. The location (did I mention it is stunning?) more than makes up for a bit of sand and the furniture, etc. is in keeping with the beach house feel.
The Pool is really good, much better than expected and used throughout our stay, as was the Hot Tub...and it was well maintained during our week. We didn't get to use the newly installed Wood Burner as it was too warm, but that would be fantastic on a cold winters' eve. The house has super fast Wifi (boys were happy!) and overall is fantastic value for money...yes it's dearer in August but if you've a young (or old) family and you want a beautiful, huge beach then it's literally on your doorstep...throw in the pool and hot tub and happy days!
Last thing, I left my watch (an expensive Tag) at the house and didn't realise until I got home and the Cleaner and Owner went well out of their way to reunite me with it. Again, I mention this as it's just another example of Nicola's commitment to providing the very best experience.
Fantastic location with stunning views. Everything very homely yet little things like the board games and videos made it cosy and welcoming. Excellent for getting to famous Cornish resorts with ease. Would recommend.
