It was perfect for our family get together.
Because water levels were high we could not use the beach. Storms took the hydro out one night but we managed just fine because of all the windows
A wonderful family! Left the place clean and tidy. I would recommend them as guests.
Lovely to have a lake view and access
Our family of 6 adults and 2 young children + visiting family from the area really enjoyed our days on Mara Lake. The kitchen at this property worked well for several of us to work on meals together. Our relatives brought up a 17' boat that we tied up at the buoy and used extensively so it was great having access to that. We enjoyed swimming and exploring at the lake front and picking an apple off the trees on our walk down the property.
It's hard to know what to say about the house exactly - the beds were fine and wifi worked well - it's got a 'lived in' feel which is good when you're with little ones especially. It just didn't feel quite up to the price point paid - we didn't expect for instance, that the deck wouldn't appear or feel sturdy enough for all of us to hang out on and enjoy meals altogether out there. Instead it was deemed unsafe for more than 4 at a time and those people needed to be centred on the structure. There was way too much side to side sway for our comfort.
The property has quite a few unfinished projects around here and there which didn't matter much to us, but we found it surprising. If you have very little ones you might want to know that the inside stairs leading to the top floor have no railing whatsoever. There also should be a lock on the door in the kitchen leading to the basement.
I know how hard it is to find waterfront properties in the Okanagan that allow a boat tie up and min. 3 day bookings so don't disregard this property, it's just that you should know what it is. Our family truly had a great time together!
The deck is safe.
I love the lake life
There were 6 of us, ranging from 10 - 92 years old. The beach is not that far from the house, a quick walk down the hill and across a small bridge and you were there, Grandpa even made it to the water a few times for a dip and a water fight. I should mention that if you have a cane or mobility issues going to the beach may not be feasible, but it is accessible if you are more mobile. Tucked in a bay made it easier to keep an eye on kids so they didn't drift away and kept water traffic down. The owner, Gary, came to check on us a couple times to make sure we were able to find everything and had no concerns. This location is nice and quiet and feels like you are miles away from everything when really it will take you under 10 minutes to drive into Sicamous. The weather was hot but the rooms managed to stay cool. The house was clean, spacious and furnished enough that we could all hang out in the same area or go in to different rooms for some quiet time. Our week flew by and we were all sorry to leave. Great communication with the owner and prompt responses, thank you Gary for the wonderful week.
We had a wonderful time. Gary is very kind and accommodating. The home is comfortable, well stocked and a great base for a lake vacation. We'd love to be able to stay again.
Great location and nice home in a quiet area.
The locaction was great close to Sicamous but far enough away not to be part of it. Waterfront was great too - very private beach. From other reviews we were a bit concerned about the "walk" to the beach. It was nothing - no different than walking across a large yard. Perfect if you have dogs with you.
The yard itself was great - we had the visiting deer daily in the yard along with tons of birds. Will be a perfect yard once basement renovations are done and construction materials gone.
Gary was great - very accomodating and accessible. House was equipped with anything you would need.
Will easily be a perfect 5 proprety once all work is complete.
Thank you for allowing dogs! Always very much appreciated by those of us who want to take our pets with us on holidays -they deserve one too!
Thanks for a great place to spend our holiday!!
Nice lake side get away!
Gary was friendly and was quick to respond to any questions. House was clean, bright and comfortable, (we were a group of 7 adults and 1 infant). The kitchen was well equipped. We rented a boat to explore the lake. The mooring buoy provided was a secure location to moor the boat overnight.
Septic system in place. Human waste and toilet paper only. Everything else please use the waste basket. Grease can available for cooking grease. Additional guests $40 per person per night after six guests. Pet fee is based daily. $30 per day. Upper deck is off limits as it doesn't have a railing.
