You cannot help but relax and unwind in Jardim do Mar.

Our 10-day stay in apartment F was wonderful. The accommodation was spotless and spacious, and it was great to have an outside space to sit and watch the hustle and bustle of the village square.

The owners were very friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. They obviously take pride in their property and its maintenance. The apartment was beautifully equipped.

The village itself if so picturesque. Tiny cobbled streets, overhung by grape vines, set at the base of an awesome red-brown cliff. And village life runs to the rushing, babbling tune of the levada water system whose channels wind along next to the paths.

We enjoyed fabulous views on a bracing walk up the mountain path to the village of Prazeres one morning. Followed by a well-earned ice cream at the Beach Bar later that day. Joe's Bar was our favourite evening haunt-great beer, friendly locals and even a few pool tables. Huge portions of hearty local cuisine enjoyed with a glass of wine makes for a perfect end to another sunny day in beautiful Madeira.

We had a really great stay in Jardim do Mar. It was a great base for exploring the island. The accommodation was excellent and I would whole-heartedly recommend it to those who enjoy great walking and getting away from it all. We can't wait to come back!

My husband and I visited Maderia early June 2009 and stayed in Jardim do Mar village square apartments.
The apartment was exactly as advertised, well equipped and very clean. The underground parking was a real bonus.

Our balcony views were of the church spire, roofs of village houses and out to sea, very pretty.

We were met by the owners who were available at anytime had we needed them for anything.

The village is very pretty and a great base for sight seeing. The village square was relatively quiet, only the noise of the locals going about their business. Oh, and the fountain!

There are two restaurants and two bars: Joe's being our favourite, where we could mix with the locals and other holiday makers. Food here was good too, though the menu a little limited.

The next town, Calheta, only 5 minutes drive is best for food shopping with a good supermarket.

We would recommend the apartments to anyone, we had a lovely time there.
