Kaum angekommen, weiss man sofort, dass man im Urlaub ist. ein paar Schritte aus dem liebevoll eingerichteten Domizil und man kann Strand, Sonne, Austern und das wahre *soivre vivre* geniessen...! To be so close to the quay and restaurants was lovely and yet so quiet and restful! We have both fallen in love with Marseillan so much so that we are seriously thinking of doing a longer term rental for two to three months next year in this lovely small French town."
Having read all the great reviews about this place, we were really looking forward to staying there. The location is great, right at the harbour within easy walking distance of a huge number of restaurants, Noilly Prat and the bus-stop. The old town square is a few minutes' walk and there are lots of activities going on either in the park next to the theatre or at the port itself during the summer weekends.
The property is clean and adequately furnished although we were a tad disappointed to find it too compact for us. There isn't a view of the port and the high wall at the end of the private courtyard blocks the lovely and cool sea-breeze from the apartment. There is no window apart from the skylight in the bedroom which is reachable with a pole. Because there is a tendency for rain albeit short in duration during sleeping hours [it rained 2-3 times in 2 weeks], we decided to leave it shut. Marseillan was very warm during our stay. The table fan struggled to cope noisily. An air-conditioning unit would have made our stay a lot more pleasant. Of course we missed Wimbledon finals as none of the TV channels covered that. Although we don't normally watch TV on holiday, it would have been nice to watch a Brit win after 70+ years.
The private courtyard wasn't as private as we would like it to be because the apartment above us were permanently occupied and it's balcon/dining area overlooks the courtyard. We were envious of their air-con and to add salt to injury, the condensation from the unit dripped down over the balcony on to the edge of our outside table and chair, During our stay, there was a little black rabbit that had decided to adopt the courtyard and had a tendancy to make a beeline for the apartment as we left the door wide open during the day for ventilation -so watch out for wee black bunny if you're staying there. We happened to have friends staying in the village and they had a job 'dropping in' as the gate was usually locked and we were not sure how they could make their presence known apart from using the phone. However, we're sure this apartment would be cosier in the cooler months as it appears to have some hi-tec looking heaters.
We hope this is not overly critical as it's obvious that there are many who have really enjoyed their stay here. One great plus about this apartment is that it is on the ground floor and there are no treacherous stairs [like many Languedoc houses] to negotiate.
This is a fantastic location secure and quiet but with immediate access to the attractive and bustling harbour. There are loads of friendly eateries from posh to cheap and cheerful, and handy shops too, all within short walking distance. Sensational seafood and good local wines to be direct from the producers. The flat is part of a little apartment block, very small but well equipped and perfectly comfortable for two people with easy on street parking and a shady terrace. There is loads to visit within an hour or so from Marseillan whether it is cities and historic sites or spectacular scenery and huge beaches. Altogether a great place for a relaxing indulgent holiday.
I truly enjoyed my stay. My time in the south was incredibly relaxing and your apartment had a lot to do with that! It felt like coming home the moment I walked in. I've never stayed somewhere more welcoming and more peaceful. It is a treasure! You have done a magnificent job putting it together. I went to the beach at Cap d'Agde every day for a little while. Somedays I shopped a bit in Montpellier or Bezier and other days I explored. A lot of days I just came back and enjoyed the serenity of your courtyard and read a book. It was fantastic! Oh, and I adored hearing the church bells in the middle of the night! That is something I've never experienced before and it is one of those tiny things that will always be in my heart.
The most perfect location -enjoy the day in countless different places and then park up and enjoy the evening at one of the many excellent restaurants just a short stroll from the apartment. The apartment is the ideal base for a couple and has everything needed to make an enjoyable and comfortable stay including a lovely outdoor courtyard that leads directly onto the picturesque Marselillan quay front.

- All reservations must be accompanied by a 25% deposit. (40% in the case of high season bookings). - The balance due to be paid 8 weeks before arrival. We also require a security deposit against breakages of EUR150, refunded within 10 days after departure. - Prices exclude a nominal EUR 70-00 charge for linens (towels / bed linen / cleaning) based upon a one week stay.
- Rental periods are week by week, Saturdays being the change over day (Low season more flexible). - The arrival time on the arrival day (Saturday) is any time after 4.30pm (1630hrs). - The departure time on the day (Saturday) of departure is not later than 10.00am.
Bookings outside of the weekly schedule may be able to be accommodated, subject to availability.
