Das Haus ist hell & luftig und in einer idyllischen Kulisse am Fluss L'isle gelegen. Die großen Zimmer & pflegeleichten Möbel machen Ihnen die Entspannung leicht. Ideal für Familienurlaube mit voll ausgestatteter Küche & Waschküche. Die außergewöhnliche, überdachte Terrasse geht über die gesamte Länge des Hauses & eignet sich hervorragend zum Essen im Freien, Grillen, Tischtennisspielen oder einfach zum Genießen der Aussicht. Der private Salzwasser-Pool (10x5 m & 1,5 m tief) ist gleich vor der Terrasse, umgeben von Holzboden & üppiger Bepflanzung. Die Mauer um den Pool, sorgt für Sicherheit, wenn er nicht benutzt wird. Es gibt reichliche Bepflanzung im Garten & am Fluss (nicht eingezäunt), wo Zweier-Kanus mit Rettungswesten (2 für Erwachsene & 2 für Kinder) zu finden sind, so dass Sie den Fluss L'isle erkunden können. Wir bewohnen ein benachbartes Haus mit Garten, das vom Haupthaus durch eine Mauer und Büsche getrennt ist. Ich stehe Ihnen zur Verfügung, falls Sie etwas benötigen.

My experience at La Vieille Ferme, Coutras

I would most definitely recommend this holiday home to anyone planning to take a large family or large group away to France. It is especially well suited to families with children. I have just come back from 2 weeks in August there with my husband, our three children and my sisters and their fanilies. In total there were 6 kids, aged from 2 - 8 and all were entertained all of the time. The pool was, perhaps the greatest attraction, and there were many lilos, arm-bands and water toys available to use. The toy cupboard was also well-stocked and there were plenty of adult board games for us to use too. We also used the kayaks many times for exploring the river and it is so calm we swam in it on several occasions. There are fishing rods that we also used.
I found the villa clean, safe and full of character and the owner very friendly and helpful. There is so much space inside and outside which was just perfect.
The surrounding area is very picturesque and we enjoyed trips to St Emillion and Bordeaux. The impression I got was that there would not be much of a night life nearby, with Coutras not being particularly interesting, so, if you are after this sort of holiday then, the villa may not be in the perfect location. However, there are plenty of lovely restaurants a short drive away. I enjoyed a romantic evening meal by the river in Libourne at La Guinguette with my husband and, we ate a tasty lunch there again with the family the next day.
All in all, a fantastic holiday, and would love to go back. Thanks Jo.

Beautiful house with everything you could need.

13 of us (6 adults, 6 children) and a dog stayed here for two glorious weeks in August 2011 and had the time of our lives. The pictures don't do the house justice as regards how spacious and beautifully finished all the rooms are. We were lucky with the weather and so wiled away our days by the pool, on the canoes, playing table tennis or swinging in the hammock. Saint Emilion and Bordeaux are pleasant day trips a short drive away and Jo (owner) is on hand to offer hints and tips for other excursions. A truly lovely stay, would definitely reccommend for large familes wanting a comfortable but stunning house to make a memorable holiday.

Huge, clean and well supplied

Our family of 11, ranging in age from 2 years to 60 something, spent a lovely week together. The sheer amount of space, both inside and out meant that we all had space for being quiet, being social or being alone! The covered terrace was wonderful as the temperature soared to 40 C, and we kept cool in the pool. Kitchen was very well kitted out with everything plus more - loads of glasses etc so no need to wash-up. We employed a young girl from the village for 2 hours every morning to help tidy up the kitchen etc and sweep the floors - it made a huge difference to us all. House was clean upon arrival and Jo on hand for questions etc. Nothing of great interest in the immediate area but Bordeaux, the left bank, St Emilion all made for good days out when needed. Ask Jo for the 'good' boulangerie - the others were a disappointment!

Wonderful Family House! Amazing Week

We stayed at this wonderful house last July with our friends who live outside of Paris - 4 adults and 4 kids and it was just perfect. It is a comfortable, spacious home with a beautiful patio and back yard. The kids loved all the options especially the canoes and the river! The house is in the perfect location to see all the spectacular sites in Bordeaux and the Dordogne area. We would definitely go back! Thanks, to Jo and her family!

The Perfect Vacation House

The house and its location were everything we were looking for in our getaway to the French countryside. The house itself is much larger and more well-appointed than the photos let on! Even with 9 of us and a dog, we felt like we could never fill the place up. The heated pool was perfect for when we wanted to be lazy and simply "profiter du soleil" -- there is a lot of sun in Aquitaine! The river behind the house was accessible and very easy for beginning kayakers. There were toys for our 3-year-old (and little training potties), movies and games for the 15- and 11-year-olds, table tennis, and tons of books (in case we had forgotten to bring any). And while the house exceeded our expectations, it was not overly luxurious or stuffy to make you feel like you couldn't kick off your shoes and lounge around on the sofas.
The location was perfect as well: The house is just outside the town of Coutras, which has two supermarkets, pharmacies, bakeries, butcher shops, etc., so it's very easy to stock up on everything you need. The famous market in Libourne is only 15 minutes away as well. We got to St. Emilion in 20 minutes. And, of course, countless wineries are minutes away, with the Pomerol, Lalande de Pomerol and St. Emilion appellations all within a half hour drive and worth visiting. The Atlantic Ocean, at Arcachon and the breathtaking Dunes de Pyla, are roughly 90 minutes away. At the same time, Coutras is just enough off the beaten path to avoid being overrun with tourists.
We highly recommend this house.

Very relaxing family holiday

Our family of eleven, including two young teenage boys and a baby, had a wonderful time here. The covered terrace meant that we could be outside most of the time and the heated swimming pool was really well used.
The house is airy and spacious and the kitchen very well equipped. Jo is friendly and helpful but never intrusive.
I would certainly recommend this property to others.

We were 4 couples ans 5 kids and we spent a very nice time in this wonderful house.
All was perfect. The place is big. Bathroom in most of rooms.

Close to St. Emilion, wonderful hosts!

We had a wonderful time at "La Vieille Ferme".
The rooms were very comfortable and roomy. The pool and terrace were lovely. The small village of Coutras nearby was small and safe for our teenagers/young adults to walk to alone. Shopping at a large LeClerc was about 5 minutes' drive, so it was easy to 'cook in'.
The canoes were great fun for everyone on a very calm river L'Isle.
Our hosts were warm and very friendly and offered many wonderful suggestions. One visit to St. Emilion and a wonderful wine tasting with Fabian was a highlight of our visit, and was only about 30 minutes away.
We were a party of 5, but the home could easily hold 3 families.

Candel lit terrace

A beautiful farm house, it was truly magical, aided by the wonderful warm sunny weather for October.The house is so relaxing and everything we needed was there. The candel lit terrace at night was such a great place to eat and enjoy a lazy out door lounging. High lights of my stay were most definitley the trip to the vine yard at the time when they where picking the grapes and seeing the whole prossese ,it felt very special being shown round by the owners and hearing about the highs and lows of owning a chateau! As well as the wine tating in St Emilion, which was great fun.It was so nice going to someone you know as we felt he was genuinly keen to help us choose wisely and not just part us from our Euros! He really looked after us and we all came away feeling a little mroe knowledgeable. It is a beautiful town to vist and so easy to get to from the house. The whole trip was marvellous and I really look forward to returning soon.
