The house is great. It has character, clean, charming and all things you would like or want: it is there. (the photo's are real!) Nice pool, barbecue (we were invited by the host to have a bbq with our family (2 kids)). Paolo and Ann make you feel at home and if you know each other for a long time. You feel at home, are there if you have a question and on the other hand let you do your thing. Garden around the house is brilliant (like sitting in a parc, with both plenty of shade and sun all day long). The area is full of history and plenty of things to see. Great restaurants, supermarket near by to do your own cooking. All in all we really had a great time and only regret to have stayed for only five/six days. There is still a lot to see and explore in the Castelli / Frascati area. Forget about Tuscany, this is a great province and area!

We had a really great holiday staying in Villa Kenya. The owners Anna and Paulo, who live in a separate appartment in the basement of the villa, could not have been more welcoming and helpful. They were a mine of useful information and practical suggestions, and kept the villa, the pool and the garden in immaculate order throughout our stay. The villa itself is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room to spread out and relax. It is well equipped with all the conveniences you would look for, and we really appreciated the wi fi zone in the kitchen that enabled us to connect to the internet to check emails on our iPhone. The gardens around the villa are green and pretty, and there are several different areas you can use to eat 'al fresco', as well as a very effective bbq next to the pool. The villa is located in a quiet area between the main road and the village (which is up a very steep hill). Although in theory one could walk to the village to eat out or shop, in reality a car is necessary to get anywhere. But there is an enormous amount to do nearby, and the journey to Rome is easy. Drive 10 minutes to Frascati, park in the station car park and let the train take the strain, a half hourly service which takes 30 minutes to reach Termini station in the centre of Rome. Heading south, we found that Pompeii / Naples is 2 hours drive, Cassino half that. Tivoli and Ostia Antica are much closer and also make a great day out. The villa is high in the Alban hills and the temperature there is a welcome 5 degrees cooler than the centre of Rome, after a hot day of sightseeing it was great to come back to a splash in the pool and a cold beer on the terrace, before lighting the bbq and putting on some of the superb sausages from the local supermarket. Any problems? Its hard to think of any. There are a lot of dogs in the area that keep up a lot of noise from dusk and periodially during the night, but it didn't trouble us particularly. All in all, a great destination and a great villa. We would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. Many thanks to Anna and Paulo - we hope to be back in a couple of years!

Kenya Lodge is one of the most comfortable and homely places that we have stayed at. My 12 year old son loved the space in the garden and we all enjoyed the pool. The house is in a beautiful area south of Rome and an ideal base for excursions into Rome and the surrounding areas. All of our trips out were relatively stress free as Ann's knowledge and advice proved to be invaluable. Just an easy 10 minute drive to Frascati and a 30 minute train ride (only 1.90euro each) and we were in Rome. Fantastic! Ann also provided a welcome pack of food and took us to the local supermarket upon arrival. What a lovely lady! We picked fruit and herbs from the garden and enoyed having a BBQ in the evenings with a glass of wine by the pool. Life doesn't get much better. Local markets were great for fruit, vegetables, clothes and handbags. My wife and 15 year old daughter had a field day! The week went far too quickly and we will certainly return. Having travelled to beutiful Italy for many years for vacation this summer was the time to visit Castelli Romani for us. Doing a lot of travel you become more selective in terms of quality of rentals. In that sense we consider ourselves a bit of 'experts'. However - the Kenya Lodge has been able to out-rate any other rentals of the past as a fantastic place with the most warm and helpful hosts in Ann and Paolo.
They were extremely helpful and we took advantage of all their knowledge about the area, the paces to visit, the restaurants and wines, which certainly added a lot of value to our stay this summer.

If you are really interested in knowing this fanstastic area just outside Rome, if you are intrested in outstanding wine, food and italian culture - then this is the place to visit.

We can highly recommend this place to enjoy an unforgettable vacation.

Our son was being married in Frascati and we used Kenya Lodge as a base for our family before, during and after the wedding. Our hosts Anna and Paulo were absolutely amazing and looked after us so well without ever being intrusive. Their local knowledge was invaluable. The villa and gardens are beautiful and we enjoyed eating fresh produce from the garden. The house is spotlessly clean and contains everything you would ever need whilst on holiday. I would certainly recommend this property and would very much like to return at some point to enjoy the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere as well as exploring the local area in greater detail. I couldnt rate this holiday home highly enough. Anna and Paulo are fantastic and such hosts, nothing was too much for them. They were so accomodating, even when it looked like the ash cloud might prevent s from travelling.We stayed here so that my family could golf, and as we had previously stayed a week in Rome, it was nice to be somewhere different. The local food was fantastic and we could rate returaunt Belvedere 1933 highly enough.

Kenya Lodge is an elegantly-designed house equipped with all that was needed for a comfortable stay in an agreeable part of Italy. Ann and Paolo were friendly and solicitous hosts, and were always on hand to offer guidance and suggestions. Lunch at the nearby Villa Grazioli was the best of the decade.

We had a fantastic two week holiday at Kenya Lodge. The villa was absolutely beautiful – spotlessly clean, well equipped and obviously very well cared for. The garden and pool exceeded our expectations, and gave us a much needed retreat from the heat and bustle of Rome. Paolo and Anna could not have been kinder, but were never intrusive. They gave us invaluable local knowledge, and we saw many things that we would otherwise have missed, including ‘snow’ in July (courtesy of a local festival at Rocca Priora). Our teenage children loved every minute of the holiday, and we were all genuinely sad to leave. Thank you Anna and Paolo – we really hope to return one day.
