We stayed here with our teenage son and had the most relaxing holiday ever. The location of the villa is perfect - handy for all the shops and restaurants etc. but unbeliveably quiet at night. Cala en Porter is quiet, clean and very picturesque.

The villa itself was extremely clean and very well equipped - it was like a home from home and we loved waking up to that breathtaking view from the terrace every morning. Having two bathrooms was great and both bedrooms have plenty of storage space. Lack of a pool did not matter as we prefer the beach but you can always use the pool at the hotel across the road if you buy a drink there.

We did not bother with a car and choose to go to the beach via the steps - there are 192 of them (we counted!!) but plenty of places to stop and take a breather along the way. Remember you are on holiday so no need to rush...... Also the option of going along the road to the beach which takes longer or going there by car.

The beach is lovely and clean - my husband and son hired kayaks on the beach (came with lifejackets) which they enjoyed. Beware of the "beach bandit" - 17 Euros for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella!! There are mats etc at the villa or most of the shops have umbrellas etc.

We walked to the Coves den Xoroi (about 15 mins away from the villa) but you could go by taxi. It is an ambient bar during the day where you can enjoy a drink overlooking the sea, serves food in the evening and is a nightclub from about 11pm onwards.

One day was slightly cloudy but not raining and still warm so we set off on one of the walks near the beach. We walked for about 3.5km and it was an amazing experience - well recommended if you like nature and wildlife. We saw lizards, wild tortoises, lots of fruits growing and superb scenery - our son said it reminded him of the South American jungle!!

Plenty of good restaurants etc. and very reasonable to eat out. We enjoyed El Glupo in the evening - fresh fish, excellent paella, lovely sangria and really friendly staff, enjoyed all the meals we ate there. During the day we liked L'Orengo (nice omelettes) and got freshly made, takeaway sandwiches wrapped in foil from Galleon.

Would definitely recommend this villa to anyone looking for a laid back holiday, at a lovely villa in a beautiful location. It is a haven for both beach and nature lovers and somewhere you can really chill out. Can't wait for us to return.

Our first impressions on arrival at the villa were how stunning the view from the terrace is. Photographs just cannot do it justice and it changes with the lighting at different times of the day. I could have quite happily stayed on that sun lounger all week.

The villa is well equipped and conveniently located for shops & restaurants and for those who don't fancy the steps to the beach, we found the walk via the road easier if a little longer but who's in a hurry on holiday? Having two bathrooms was an absolute delight as we were staying with two teenage daughters.

Most entertainment seems to take place at "Sa Paissa" which is about 3 or 4 minutes walk away. A little further takes you to "Big Als Steak House" which isn't cheap but you'll come away well satisfied whether you choose a steak or the "all you can eat" buffet. We found a small cafe/bar called Pitos (2 mins walk) which was extremely good value with large portions and seemed well used by the locals which is usually a good sign.

Lida was very helpful with advice about taxis to and from the airport etc.

This was our first time in Cala en Porter and we feel sure it won't be our last. Villa El Cielo will certainly be our first choice when we return. Many thanks for a great holiday.

Only one word describes our thoughts on the villa, excellent! We have been coming here for a few years now and will continue to do so into the future, with any luck. The villa is always spotless and the one time we needed to ring Karen she was with us very promptly. The location couldn't be better. You are so close to all the restaurants and shops but it still remains very quiet. I am always raving about it to my friends so hopefully one day I shall convert at least one of them to the fabulous island of Menorca. Keep up the good work!!
